We’re delighted to share that our campaign has now received support from Kent Wildlife Trust a nationally recognised organisation that understands the wider environmental impact of dog fouling across Thanet.

Here is their full statement:

“Kent Wildlife Trust recognises the valuable work GRASS Cliftonville CIC is doing to enhance biodiversity and create space for nature at The Oval Bandstand & Lawns, which earned a Silver Wilder Kent Award earlier this year.
Dog fouling is more than a public nuisance, it has real environmental consequences. When left behind, dog waste alters soil chemistry and can harm delicate plant communities. It also spreads bacteria and parasites that pose risks to wildlife, pollinators, and even livestock. In addition, residues from worming and parasite treatments can pass through dogs into the soil, harming invertebrates and disrupting the delicate ecology that supports healthy ecosystems.
By cleaning up after our dogs, we can all help protect the health of our local environment and the wildlife that depends on it.”

This kind of support shows that this campaign isn’t just about cleanliness, it’s about protecting nature, wildlife and the environmental health of the whole of Thanet.

Over the next week, we’ll be sharing further statements from other respected organisations who also recognise how important this issue is. The message is clear: something needs to change.
