Hello everyone,
Wow in less than 24 hours, over 200 people have signed our petition calling for action on dog fouling across Thanet. That’s a clear sign of how frustrated residents are with the state of our streets, parks, and beaches, and with the lack of enforcement by Thanet District Council.
Although the Council already has powers under its Dog Control Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) to issue fines, enforcement across the district remains extremely limited, just 37 fines since 2016.
A recent Freedom of Information (FOI) request revealed there were 622 reports of dog fouling in the past five years, yet only three Fixed Penalty Notices were issued. That’s a success rate of just 0.48%, which suggests that reporting offences has almost no impact.
It’s clear people in Thanet have had enough. We love our dogs but we want our council to take responsibility and start enforcing its own rules.
If you haven’t already, please share the petition with neighbours, friends, and local groups so even more residents can add their names. Every signature strengthens our voice.
Thank you for standing up for a cleaner, safer Thanet. Together, we’re making it impossible to ignore. 💚
