It has come to our attention that Afghan refugees residing in Iran,Pakistan and Turkey are currently facing immense pressure and the imminent risk of deportation back to Afghanistan, a country plagued by instability and conflict.
The situation in Afghanistan has been volatile for many years, and recent events have only exacerbated the challenges faced by Afghan citizens. The safety and security of Afghan refugees should be a paramount concern for the international community. Therefore, we respectfully urge the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the foreign affairs departments of Canada, Australia, Germany,United Kingdom and the United States to take immediate action to assist and protect these vulnerable Afghan refugees and your former afghan Allies.
The following are some specific actions that we implore you to consider:
Urgently assess the situation: Please dispatch humanitarian teams to Iran and Pakistan to assess the conditions of Afghan refugees, identify those who are at risk of deportation, and evaluate their urgent needs.
Diplomatic engagement: Engage with the governments of Iran and Pakistan to advocate for the protection of Afghan refugees and the cessation of deportation proceedings.
Expedite resettlement processes: Facilitate the expedited resettlement of Afghan refugees to safe and stable countries, such as Canada, Australia, Germany,United Kingdom and the United States, where they can rebuild their lives in security.
Humanitarian aid: Provide necessary humanitarian aid and resources to support Afghan refugees in their host countries, including access to healthcare, education, and shelter.
International coordination: Collaborate with other nations and international organizations to create a coordinated and effective response to this crisis.
We understand that addressing the plight of Afghan refugees is a complex and challenging task, but it is a moral imperative for the international community to act swiftly and decisively. The lives and futures of countless Afghan refugees are at stake, and their well-being should be our shared responsibility.
Thank you for your attention to this pressing issue. We trust that you will take immediate steps to alleviate the suffering of Afghan refugees and uphold the principles of compassion and humanitarianism.
