The Prime Minister has said he will change the law that prevents UK pensioners living overseas from voting in UK elections. But my Mum, a WW2 veteran, only receives around half of her full UK state pension because she moved to Canada to be with family. In this recent announcement in a letter to WW2 veteran Harry Shindler, Boris Johnson rightly acknowledges that many expats, like my Mum, have strong ties to the UK, draw a state pension and even fought for the country.

My mum even served in all three-armed forces but she only receives only £72.50 a week instead of the full £129.20 a week UK state pension. It is time that my Mum be given the full pension she deserves.
