Thank you for signing the petition by Reclaim Our Recovery­, a community of concerned locals campaigning for a transparent and just flood recovery.

The NSW Reconstruction Authority is going to demolish 62 homes around Lismore — with Baillie Street first in the firing line. Join us Tuesday 9:30 on Baillie st.

Kristie Clarke from the Reconstruction Authority confirmed on ABC Radio that 50 homes have already been demolished, and now another 62 are set to go across the Northern Rivers by mid-year.

These homes are mostly structurally sound, built from irreplaceable Big Scrub rainforest timbers. Some have been recently renovated. Many owners were led to believe their homes would be relocated or gifted, not destroyed.

Come down to Baillie Street this Tuesday morning to peacefully stand together with other concerned locals and demonstrate our objection to this destruction.

Who We Are

For those unfamiliar, Reclaim Our Recovery (ROR) formed after the 2022 climate change-fueled floods that devastated our region.

We advocate for:

• Democratic community involvement in the recovery – nothing about us, without us
• Social and Ecological justice in the recovery
• Transparency and accountability from the Authorities
• Honest conversations about how we live safely and sustainably on the floodplain
• Rather than demolishing houses and breaking up communities, we are calling for genuine community-led recovery.

Why It Matters

In the middle of a housing crisis, these homes could be relocated, raised, or retrofitted to stay part of our housing stock or used for urgently needed social housing.

To date:

• Fewer than 20 houses have been raised
  Only 4 homes have been relocated by the NSW Reconstruction Authority
• Thousands of flood-affected residents are still without stable housing
• There is still important work to do — and your voice matters.
