Stop deceiving the world with the use of AI.

The Issue

Anyone can make a video of the president declaring an unwarranted state of emergency, thanks to Artificial Intelligence (AI). What once was a trusted source of information – visual communication – now holds the potential to distort reality. The saying "seeing is believing" has lost its weight. As an everyday global citizen, the capacity to distinguish reality has been sadly questioned, projected onto a dystopian canvas where manipulation reigns supreme due to AI's exploitation.

Artificial Intelligence has shown us its potential for misrepresentation and deceit. PwC's 2021 report revealed a staggering 97% increase in deepfake videos within a year (source: PwC). Just imagine the scale of misinformation that could be created by this rate of increase. Statistics like these underline the immediate need for action against AI's unregulated use.

This deception is not just alarming, but indeed dangerous. The power to twist truth into illusion, to create a facade of authenticity where none exists, is destructive. It undermines faith in shared realities, destabilizing societies at their foundation. Why should we, the public, second-guess every bit of information, constantly questioning our perceptions?

We call upon global leaders to consider the immeasurable harm AI allows, especially when used without ethical regard or oversight. We ask of the global tech industry to self-regulate and take serious responsibility for the tools they put out there, to prevent exploitation. It is our collective responsibility to uphold our shared reality, to preserve trust in our perception.

Don't let AI hold our shared perceptions hostage. Sign this petition to ban the use of AI globally and promote a culture of authenticity and trust!
