It’s been exactly one year since many of you saw a reel on IG about the Landover Mall site, thank you for every signature and for showing up. We are 146 signatures away from 25,000. Keep sharing & keep showing up! Join us for our next organizing meeting on Saturday, September 12th at 1:30pm! Let’s build on the momentum of the 2-year moratorium on data center approvals, and keep up the fight for a permanent ban. There are already threats to the moratorium we need to be aware of. We need you to be a part of the conversation!

Legislative Updates

In this current legislative period, we expect the county council to review data center bills that may threaten the existing 2-year moratorium. Yesterday, an awful data center zoning bill by Wanika Fisher was introduced. This bill would allow for zoning of data centers in rural and agricultural areas, including the six flags site, in Brandywine, Upper Marlboro, and more. Please stay tuned as we will alert everyone when there will be public hearings for this bill and any other data center related bills. In the meantime please pressure your council members to reject this bill.

This 2-year moratorium also does not cover the proposed Landover data center because that already went through prior approvals. The Landover site is paused right now by the County Executive moratorium (separate) that ends on September 30th. Some members of the council have said they are working on a bill to provide a permanent solution. Please continue to place pressure on our council to make sure the Landover site is stopped permanently!
