The Issue

Every day and late into the night, residents across North Acton and Park Royal are subjected to severe, unrelenting anti-social behavior (ASB) involving motorcycles and cars.

What should be residential streets and active commercial thoroughfares have turned into racetracks for:

Illegal exhaust modifications (including deliberate baffle removal and backfire tuning) that create deafening, disruptive noise levels well beyond legal limits.

Dangerous driving and street racing, including high-speed acceleration, drifting, and illegal maneuvers on main roadways.

Unauthorized car/bike meets congregating near local retail parks, residential hubs, and main roads.

This behavior constitutes a clear breach of Section 59 of the Police Reform Act 2002 and environmental noise regulations.

The Impact on Our Community

This is not just an occasional nuisance—it is a continuous environmental and safety hazard affecting thousands of residents, families, and workers:

Sleep Deprivation & Mental Health: Late-night engine revving and backfiring wake children, disrupt sleep schedules, and create constant stress and fatigue for nearby households.

Road & Public Safety: Aggressive driving puts pedestrians, cyclists, and other road users at immediate risk of serious injury or fatal accidents.

Quality of Life: Residents cannot open their windows or enjoy peaceful evenings due to predictable, recurring vehicle noise.

What We Are Asking For

We demand that Ealing Council and the Metropolitan Police (Ealing Safer Neighbourhoods Team) work together to implement immediate, robust enforcement measures:

1. Targeted Enforcement & Checkpoints: Regular, visible joint police-council enforcement operations during peak evening and weekend hours along known hotspot corridors in North Acton and Park Royal.

2. Acoustic / Noise Camera Installation: Trial and deploy acoustic (noise-detecting) camera technology to automatically identify and fine vehicles exceeding legal noise thresholds.

3. PSPO & Car Meet Enforcement: Rigorously enforce Ealing's Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) to deter nuisance driving, vehicle gatherings, and spectator crowds.

4. Traffic Calming Infrastructure: Evaluate physical engineering solutions (such as speed cameras, improved street design, or road layout adjustments) on key stretches to prevent street racing.
