The petition has been going for just 12 days and over 10,000 people are signing every day now!
As we approach out 100k target for contacting cultural ambassadors, I've been adding to my list as I find more to contact. The letter is ready! I'll answer some more FAQs.
Why 100k?
100,000 signatures will show the strong community support. A larger number demonstrates our commitment and makes our call for change more impactful.
The petition supports our case for change. It is evidence of the demand for authentic representation. It strengthens the overall campaign.
What else can we do?
- Keep leaving feedback - If you've already sent in-game feedback, send a follow up! Ask why the needs have not been addressed. Tell them how fictional media impacts real life. How video games is among the fastest growing industries in the world and we know they have over 63 million active players, so 'just a video game' doesn't cut it.
- 1 star reviews - You can always change it back when they listen to us.
- Report them - You can report the game on app stores for offensive content. Whitewashing, orientalism and cultural erasure are a fair reason.
- Keep sharing the petition! The more we flood their tags on social media, the more we can be heard.
Why don't we just uninstall?
Playing the game free to play (F2P) adds financial pressure as it costs money to run their servers. If you avoid spending money on the games, or on official merchandise etc, but continue to play, it directly affects their profits. If enough of us do this, it will make a difference.
So what's next?
20k more signatures and we'll be sending out those letters to cultural ambassadors! At that point, please bare with me as it may take some time to hear back from them, but I'll keep writing to the right people until we gain enough support. In the meantime we'll keep the pressure up to strengthen our case even more. I won't declare victory until HoYo provide authentic representation in their games, so keep sharing the petition!
