The Issue
For 12 years, my family has been trapped in an unforgiving judicial system that seems to prioritize bureaucracy over the safety and well-being of children. We've witnessed firsthand the devastating effects of domestic violence perpetuated by the gaps and inefficiencies in the current legal framework. Despite numerous appeals for protection, the cycle of violence has continued, leaving lasting scars on my children who now require trauma counseling. We live in a society that claims to protect its vulnerable, yet our courts and local authorities have consistently let us down.
The courts must stop putting children and their parents or guardians in unsafe positions where domestic violence is allowed to persist. This is not just an isolated issue, but a systemic failure that needs urgent attention. Evidence shows that court decisions often place victims back in harm's way, and local authorities frequently cite a lack of capacity as an excuse to cover their lapses, far too often leaving families like mine in peril.
We urge the courts to take immediate and concrete actions to fix this broken system. This includes enforcing all non-molestation orders without altering their wording, ensuring that the directives meant to protect us are not diluted or weakened. The police, too, must uphold these orders stringently, acting swiftly and decisively whenever they are breached.
It's time for accountability. We call on lawmakers, judges, and law enforcement officials to adopt robust policies that prioritize the safety and well-being of children and survivors of domestic violence. Let us pressure the system to reform and to allocate adequate resources to ensure these protective measures are effective.
Please stand with us in demanding change. Sign this petition to hold our courts and local authorities accountable so that no other family has to endure the same struggles. Our children deserve to grow up in an environment free from fear and violence, supported by a judicial system that actually protects them. Your signature can make a difference. Join us in this fight for justice and safety.
