In Riverside County, California, judges are allowed to order the surgical debarking of dogs deemed "public nuisances", a practice widely condemned as inhumane by the AVMA and outright banned in several countries and US states.  It permanently removes a dog's ability to bark, and carries the risk of serious complications (scarring, trouble breathing, etc.)  There are MANY humane alternatives to debarking, which shouldn't even be legal, let alone a possible court mandate.

State-mandated cruelty has NO place in California, or anywhere else!
