The Issue

As a resident of the beautiful Woodnook area and someone who lives directly behind the proposed site, I am deeply concerned and disappointed with the local council's plan to fence off the green space behind our row of terraces. This cherished piece of land not only serves as a lush, picturesque backdrop for our homes but also plays a vital role in supporting local wildlife and maintaining the natural ecosystem. The proposed fencing will transform our lovely, open view into an unsightly eyesore that will negatively impact the residents who have enjoyed this scenic beauty for years.

The green space in question is more than just a patch of grass; it's a haven for numerous birds, small mammals, and insects that thrive in this vibrant community of nature. Fencing this area will disrupt their habitats and displace the wildlife that has made it their home. Furthermore, this green corridor contributes significantly to the residents' quality of life, promoting wellbeing, and providing a space for relaxation and leisure activities—facets vital for mental health.

Restricting access to this green space goes against the principles of community inclusion and the residents' right to enjoy their local environment. Such decisions must consider the broader implications, including ecological impacts and the welfare of the human and animal residents alike.

To protect our green space, I urge the local council's planning committee to review and ultimately refuse the proposed fencing plan. By doing so, you will uphold the values of conservation and community spirit that define Woodnook. Let's preserve our environment and prevent the loss of a beloved community asset.

Join me in urging the local council to reconsider their fencing proposal. Sign this petition to ensure that Woodnooks green space remains a part of our community's shared legacy.

The photo attached does not do this land justice. In summer it truly is a beautiful open green space. Please look past the way it looks at present however open your mind to how it will look in summer.

Thank you in advance for your support on this matter, myself and the residents appreciate your support.
