What an incredible start to 2018: an additional 40,000 of you have joined our mission to protect kids from body-shaming messages in apps! Many thanks to each and every one of you for raising your voices and declaring that cosmetic surgery games aimed at children are not okay. It should go without saying that 8-year-olds (and their younger counterparts) shouldn’t spend their time imagining getting a nose job, injecting filler for fuller lips, or undergoing liposuction for thinner thighs. These games are harmful to a child’s developing self-esteem and body image. Your voices are being heard and we’ll keep beating our drum about these apps until we get confirmation from Google, Apple and Amazon that they are willing to implement a policy for developers that these games are no longer acceptable. For all you newcomers who have signed, welcome to our movement! Your signature carries weight but please don’t stop there. You can also get behind our campaign and tweet the CEOs at Apple (@tim_cook), Google (@sundarpichai) and Amazon (@JeffBezos) to let them know that #SurgeryIsNotaGame. Alternatively, feel free to retweet our campaign tweets via our Twitter page: @endangeredbodys Again, many thanks to each and every one of you! Onwards to positive change and protecting young minds... ...because surgery is not a game.
