Someone posted a comment on the Aviation Herald on the ‘facts’ of this incident -
“There were never any issues with the landing gear. The grinding noise heard by some in the passenger cabin was part of the air conditioning system for the aircraft. The air conditioning system, or packs as they are called, are located below the passenger cabin on the bottom of the aircraft. Yes it failed. The Air Cycle Machine in the left pack failed and seized. The part has been replaced and all the duct work cleaned out. This aircraft was back in the air the next morning.”
Pleased to hear that they allegedly took the time to clean out the air conditioning ducts and removed the contaminants. Shame they entered the cabin and cockpit in the first place. Who knows how many people may now be injured?, injuries that might not manifest for days, weeks or months.

‘The FAA reported: "SKYWEST AIRLINES FLIGHT 5585 REPORTED SMOKE IN THE COCKPIT, LANDED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT", unknown injuries, unknown damage, unknown tail number, unknown phase of flight.’
Great to hear that the FAA have a grip on the situation and so much information at their fingertips!
