REPORTED/ALLEGED FUME EVENTS MAY 2018 02 May Avion Express (on behalf on Condor) - Flight Number: DE 732/3 Stuttgart/Antalya/Stuttgart Airbus A320-200 Registration: LY-VEV Flight Attendants complained of skin irritations and rashes that started to develop on the Stuttgart/Antalya sector - however, the Flight Attendants believed these irritations were caused by the uniforms. The aircraft remained on the ground on 03 May. See *4th May - Same route/Same Aircraft/Same Flight Numbers. 03 May Spirit Airlines - Flight Number: NK 902 Dallas Ft. Worth/Orlando Airbus A319-109 Registration: N512NK Odour of musty dirty feet in cabin. Three cabin crew taken to hospital. 04 May British Airways - Flight Number: BA 372/373 London Heathrow/Toulouse/London Heathrow Airbus A319-100 Registration: G-EUPX Alleged Fume Event - on one or both flights. The aircraft remained on the ground for 3 hours in Toulouse. On arrival back at Heathrow it was withdrawn from service until 06 May. No further information. *04 May Avion Express (on behalf of Condor) - Flight Number: DE 732/3 Stuttgart/Antalya/Stuttgart Airbus A320-200 Registration: LY-VEV On taxi to the departure runway a strong ‘stench’ developed onboard causing passengers to complain and to refuse to fly on the aircraft. Finally, the passengers staged a revolt prompting the crew to return to the gate. A subsequent examination of the aircraft revealed that both engines were leaking oil due to defective seals. Strong contamination of both bleed air ducts resulted. Both engines needed to be replaced. The German BFU did not rate this incident as serious and no investigation has been opened. 06 May Allegiant - Flight Number: G4-1878 Indianapolis/Myrtle Beach Airbus A319-100 Registration: N325NV Electrical odour onboard. Diverted to Asheville NC. 07 May British Airways - Flight Number: BA974/975 London/Hamburg/London Airbus A319-100 Registration: G-EUPX* Alleged Fume Event- on one or both flights. Aircraft spent 4 hours on the ground in Hamburg. No further information. * Same Aircraft as 04 May. 07 May Gol Transportes Aereos - Flight Number: G3-2089 Curitiba/Rio De Janeiro (Santos Dumont) Boeing 737-700 Registration: PR-GEA Rejected take off at Curitiba due to strong Burning Odour. Passengers reported the crew explained it was due to a problem with the Air conditioning. 08 May American Airlines - Flight Number: AA 2587 Chicago/Dallas Fort Worth Airbus A321-200 Registration: N157AA Odour in Cabin. Returned to Chicago. 08 May Delta Airlines - Flight Number: DL 1854 Detroit/Denver McDonnell Douglas MD-90 Registration: N960DN After landing and during taxi to the apron, passengers reported there was thick smoke coming out of the cabin air vents. There was no fire/flames. The aircraft was evacuated via slides. 09 May British Airways - Flight Number: BA 943 Düsseldorf/London Heathrow Airbus A319-100 Registration: G-EUPP Alleged Fume Event due to ‘Odour’. Mayday declared. No further information. 13 May Southwest Airlines - Flight Number: WN 2799 San Diego/Las Vegas Boeing 737-700 Registration: N565WN Smoke in cockpit. Diverted to Los Angeles. 13 May Transavia - Flight Number: HV 163 Amsterdam/Antalya Boeing 737-800 Registration: PH-HXM Diverted to Vienna after a number of passengers became sick. Two passengers taken to hospital and another 6 were treated at the airport. Cause - unknown. 14 May Frontier Airlines - Flight Number: Denver/Chicago Airbus A319-100 Registration: N927FR Unidentified Odour onboard. Returned to Denver. 19 May Pal Express (on behalf of Philippine Airlines) - Flight Number: PR 2687 Angeles City/Busuanga De Havilland Dash 8-400 Smoke in cabin. Diverted to Manila. 19 May EasyJet - Flight No: U2 2716 Lisbon/Milan Malpensa Airbus A320-200 Registration: G-EZWE Smoke in Cabin. Diverted to Lyon (France). 20 May Frontier Airlines - Flight No: F9 1839 Tulsa/San Diego Airbus A320-200 Registration: N223FR Unidentified odour, chemical in nature in the aft cabin. Diverted to Albuquerque. 21 May Lufthansa - Flight Number: LH 569 Lagos/Frankfurt Airbus A330-300 Registration: D-AIKF Electrical odour onboard. Diverted to Tamanrasset (Algeria). 21 May ANA - All Nippon Airways - Flight No: NH 809 Tokyo Narita/Hong Kong Boeing 767-300 Registration: JA 625A White smoke developed in the cabin before departure from stand. The crew initiated a rapid disembarkation into the terminal. Preliminary results suggest an oil leak from the APU May have been the cause. 24 May Germania - Flight Number: ST 3805 Tel Aviv/Nuremberg Airbus A321-209 Registration: D-ASTM Smoke onboard during climb. Returned to Tel Aviv. Emergency Services found no trace of fire or heat. 25 May American Airlines - Flight Number: AA 1127 Miami/Medellin Columbia Airbus A319-100 Registration: N9026C Smoke in cabin. Diverted to Kingston Jamaica. 27 May Frontier - Flight Number: FR 1764 San Diego/Tulsa Airbus A320-200 Registration: N238FR Diverted to Phoenix due to unidentified Odour onboard causing a number of passengers to feel unwell. 17 passengers were medically assessed at the airport. One male passenger aged 62 taken to hospital. 29 May SAS - Scandinavian Airlines - Flight Number: SK 4743 Oslo/Brussels Boeing 737-800 Registration: LN-RRH Smoke in cabin. Diverted to Amsterdam. 29 May Condor - Flight Number: DE 2010 Frankfurt/Minneapolis Boeing 767-300 Registration: D-ABUP Smoke in Cockpit on decent into Minneapolis. Taxied to stand with emergency Services in trail. 31 May Piedmont - On behalf of American Airlines - Flight Number: PI 4933/AA 4933 Portland/Philadelphia Embraer ERJ-145 Registration: N906AE Smoke in cockpit. Diverted to Boston.
