Oct 28: We showed up. Now we go to the people the board answers to.

Thank you to everyone who came to the fair board meeting on Oct 28, joined on Zoom, or wrote in.

What happened:

• A resident handed the board more than 2,400 of your signatures.
• No one spoke in favor of the data center. Resident after resident asked the board to end its agreement with Global Stack.
• The board president said our comments "are being heard" and that the board will discuss this "on a future agenda." No date was set.
• The board entered a letter from the City of Perris into the record. 

Why we're not waiting:

While the agreement stands, Global Stack has a right to study our fairgrounds, and its evaluation period runs to about August 2027. The board can end it any time with 30 days' notice, no reason needed. The agreement contemplates a lease of up to 100 years, while state law limits fair leases to 55 years, according to the Legislature's committee analyses. Ventura's fair board ended its agreement with the same company, and Santa Barbara refused to sign one. Our fair board can say no too.

What you can do now:

1. Tell the board, and the people it answers to. Start with the fair board email, which also goes to CDFA, the state agency that oversees fairs. Then email your state legislators. Emails to the county supervisors, DGS and the city councils are there too: https://savelakeperris.com/email (add one sentence of your own; it helps each email stand out). Already emailed the board? It still hasn't acted, and this time CDFA gets a copy. Send it again, then email your state legislators.
2. Share this petition. We're close to 2,500. Help us pass it.
3. Print a flyer for your street. Two new ones are up: a poster for poles and posting boards, and a step-by-step handout: https://savelakeperris.com/flyers
