Perris voted 5 to 0. Help us carry it to the fairgrounds this weekend.

Thank you for signing. We have good news, and a quick ask for this weekend.
On Tuesday, Oct 13, the Perris City Council voted 5 to 0 to ban data centers citywide, including edge data centers. Perris is the first city in western Riverside County to vote for a ban. Not one person spoke against it.
This win was months in the making. City staff, the Planning Commission, the City Council, and most importantly the community; all the organizations and residents that had input on it and voiced their concerns.
When neighbors asked the city to close loopholes, the city listened, and the final language names edge data centers, the kind proposed at the fairgrounds. Cities across western Riverside County now have a strong example to look to. A final, routine vote is expected at the next council meeting, and four council members spoke in favor of a city letter to the fair board.
Now it's the fairgrounds' turn. Perris's ban can't reach them, because they're state land. Only the fair board can end its agreement with Global Stack, and the board tentatively meets Wednesday, Oct 28. Perris showed what happens when neighbors show up. This weekend, you can help bring that same energy to the fair.
THIS WEEKEND: HAND OUT FLYERS AT THE FAIR
The carnival is open again, and many of the families walking in still haven't heard about the data center proposed at the fairgrounds.
When: Saturday, Oct 17 and Sunday, Oct 18, 2 pm
Where: In front of the Derby Room, by the parking lot
Address: 18700 Lake Perris Drive, Perris
Print flyers (English and Spanish): https://savelakeperris.com/#spread
Give one hour, either day. Even 2 to 3 pm makes a real difference, and bringing a friend doubles what you can hand out. There will likely be extra flyers on the day.
Bring: water, a hat and sunscreen. A homemade sign with a few big words, like "Save Lake Perris," helps too.
Ground rules: stay in the parking lot and on walkways, don't block traffic or entrances, and no flyers on windshields.
Can't make it this weekend? Email the fair board. The message is ready at SaveLakePerris.com and takes about two minutes.
Know someone who might come out? Forward this to them or send them the info and links.
Every flyer you hand out is one more neighbor who can email the board or show up on Oct 28.
Let's finish what Perris started.
Save Lake Perris
P.S. Moreno Valley's City Council votes Tuesday, Oct 20, on a 45-day pause on new data centers. As drafted, it would only cover data centers over 100 megawatts. Perris showed a stronger approach: its definition names edge data centers, so the small ones are covered too. We hope Moreno Valley takes a close look at it.
