New website: email the fair board by Oct 14, and help spread the word

We just launched SaveLakePerris.com (en español: SaveLakePerris.com/es), one place with everything you need to help. Two things you can do this week:

1. Email the fair board by Wednesday, Oct 14. Ask it to put ending its agreement with the company on its Oct 28 agenda. The board can only vote on items listed on its posted agenda, and that agenda has to be posted at least 10 days before the meeting. The site has the email ready: add your city and one sentence of your own, then send. It takes about two minutes, and it counts wherever you live.

2. Help spread the word. Many people still don't know a data center has been proposed at the fairgrounds.

- If you live near the lake: print a flyer from the site (in English and Spanish) and put it up where it's allowed, like community boards and local businesses that say yes. There's also a half-sheet to hand to neighbors.

- If you live farther away: share the site online. The site has ready-made digital flyers you can post, or write your own post with a link to SaveLakePerris.com. Texting a few people you know works too.

Save the date: the fair board meets Wednesday, Oct 28. The time and place will be on the posted agenda, and we'll share them here as soon as it's out. Everyone is welcome, not just Perris and Moreno Valley residents, and you can check the agenda for a Zoom option if you can't make it in person. More people at the meeting sends a stronger message.

Nothing has been approved. The board signed a nonbinding agreement to study the idea, and either side can end it with 30 days' notice.

En español: lanzamos SaveLakePerris.com/es. Dos cosas que puede hacer esta semana: 1) Escríbale a la junta de la feria a más tardar el miércoles 14 de octubre y pídale que ponga la terminación del acuerdo en la agenda del 28 de octubre. El correo ya está listo, toma unos dos minutos y cuenta sin importar dónde viva. 2) Corra la voz. Si vive cerca del lago, imprima un volante y póngalo donde esté permitido. Si vive más lejos, comparta el sitio en redes sociales o mándeselo por mensaje a sus conocidos. Todos son bienvenidos a la reunión del 28 de octubre. Nada se ha aprobado.
