Stop CommBank's Fee Hike and Protect Vulnerable Mates.

Stop CommBank's Fee Hike and Protect Vulnerable Mates.
The issue
Despite reporting a substantial $9.8 billion profit in 2024, a period marked by financial uncertainty and a nation-wide recession, Commonwealth Bank of Australia has chosen to implement a new fees that will directly undermine the financial security of many Australians and disproportionately impact vulnerable Australians. This decision raises serious concerns about the bank's commitment to its customers, particularly during a time of economic hardship.
The bank plans to introduce a $3 fee for in-branch cash withdrawals for millions of customers, starting January 6, 2025.
This unfair and discriminatory practice will disproportionately impact:
Seniors: Many older Australians rely on cash for essential needs. (what if they don't receive any age pension)
People with disabilities: Those who cannot easily access online banking or ATMs. (what if the individual is yet to be diagnosed/assessed for special needs or is not comfortable talking about their special needs in public)
Low-income earners: Who may not meet the deposit requirements to waive the fees.
We demand that Commonwealth Bank of Australia:
Reverses this decision: Eliminate the $3 in-branch withdrawal fee.
Protects vulnerable Australians: Ensure accessible banking options for all customers.
Prioritizes customer needs: Stop prioritizing profits over people.
