PERSONAL RESPONSE

from Peter Horrobin (Founder of Ellel Ministries) and Fiona Horrobin, (both now former Trustees of The Christian Trust) The Christian Trust is the UK Registered Charity under which the work of Ellel Ministries in the UK is conducted.

On the 18th March 2023, Andy Taylor, the recently appointed International Director of Ellel Ministries, made a public announcement that the Executive Leadership had decided to put Ellel Pierrepont on the market for sale. The Pierrepont Centre, home of the NETS Training School and Healing Centre, is the largest and most strategic Ellel Centre, serving the vast population of the London environs and training leaders from all over the world on the NETS Schools.

We are well-known to everyone who received the Announcement and we now know that most recipients assumed, wrongly, that, as Founders of the ministry, we would have been consulted and that we were in agreement with the decision. This is not the case. We do not believe the work at Pierrepont should be closed down and that this God-ordained and blessed facility should be sold. We do not believe that this is in the interests of either Ellel Ministries or The Christian Trust.

We are now being contacted directly by long-standing friends, decades-long colleagues, fellowworkers, team members, leaders of Ellel Centres and supporters, for our response to the announcement, which was distributed without our advance knowledge. Hence the need for this corrective statement to inform those who are concerned and to protect our own integrity.

We were first informed of the decision to sell the Pierrepont Estate on June 24th 2022. It came as an earth-shattering and heart-rending announcement, breaking faith with the thousands of people for whom Pierrepont is a place of hope and healing; and with those who travel from around the world to be trained on the NETS Schools and experience how Jesus saves, heals, delivers and equips His people for service.

The Pierrepont Estate, with all its land and buildings, was acquired in 1994 through a modern day Nehemiah generation of people who stood in faith, battled, gave their all in finance, livelihoods, skills and talents to establish a most precious work of God, hallmarked in every direction by God’s supernatural provision and miracles. The work was pioneered by its first Centre Director, Jill Southern. Thousands of people have gone out from Pierrepont to the nations with a message of hope and healing. Many have become leaders in their own right, continuing the work in their own country and situation.

A core principle (spiritual DNA) of Ellel Ministries International has always been walking in vision, faith and obedience, trusting in God to be our Provider. We believe that the God who answered prayer with miraculous provision to establish and maintain the ministry at Pierrepont for 29 years, will continue to do so. Whatever challenges come, there is nothing that God cannot meet through His people.

The announcement stated that the decision to sell Pierrepont was a unanimous one of the Executive Leadership. This is misleading, for it is only the Trustees that are able to sell the property and they were not in unity.

After almost fifty years as Chairman of The Christian Trust, I was sacked as Chair by the other Trustees (all members of the Executive Leadership), at a meeting, in my absence, on the 8th March. Both Fiona and I were then also asked, in writing, to resign as Trustees by the newly elected Interim Chairman, because of our divergence of views about the sale of Pierrepont. As minority Trustees, we were no longer in a position to influence future decisions, and not wishing to be party to the governance of a Charity, which we believe has now departed from the foundational principles of the ministry, we have resigned as Trustees.

In Summary

We cannot agree that the work of this highly strategic, Kingdom of God ministry and training centre should be closed down and that the property must be sold.

Pierrepont is a living well that is refreshing the nations with the life of God. How can it be right to put a cap on a living well that God himself opened? Day by day guests and students witness to what God is doing in their lives.

The Executive Leadership have been led to believe that God has said Pierrepont must be sold.

We do not agree. We do not believe that this decision is of God.

Peter and Fiona Horrobin
