Gladstone Robosavages safe!

Thank you for your letters of support and petition signatures! I sent all of them to the trustees and they narrowly voted to rescind all school closures due to public pressure. MLA Adrian Dix and gladstone students collected 18,000 Vancouver petition signatures often enduring months of summer heat or cold rain -- never complaining. The legendary Karthik Kanagasabapathy wrote the Trustees directly and gave a news interview in support of Gladstone Robosavages. Karthik is truly a defender of STEM education threatened with injustice. The Robosavages gave two public robotics presentations organized by MLA Adrian and Timothy Leung of Penguin Robotics -- one was at the school board meeting where they filled the Trustees' tables with two boxes of trophies and regaled the public with two working robots. After the trustees rescinded school closures they were fired by the minister of education who had wanted them to close schools. The minister replaced our elected school trustees with an appointed single trustee. The public backlash was swift from students, parents, teacher organizations, school board employees and PACs. Within a day, the minister was on the news saying no schools would close and he especially mentioned that Gladstone will not close "for the foreseeable future". We are angry our elected trustees are fired and are nervous about the appointed official but at least we know that Gladstone is safe. Thank you international robotics students, Thank you everyone! It's been a long fight but you helped save Gladstone!
