And these stories aren't unique; in fact, 1.5 million girls in India have the same ones. UNICEF says that on average, 27% of Indian girls are married before they turn 18 and 7% are married before they turn 15. India is still behind when it comes to gender equality, whether it's in child marriage, education, employment, or the use of basic rights.
