Stop EU Chat Control.

The EU’s proposed Chat Control legislation is presented as a measure to protect children from online abuse. Protecting children is an essential goal, but this proposal would go far beyond targeting criminals. It could require digital platforms to scan private messages, weakening encryption and putting the privacy and security of millions of law abiding people at risk.

Children deserve effective protection, but mass surveillance is not the answer. We can combat child exploitation without compromising everyone’s fundamental rights or creating systems that could be misused in the future.

This petition calls on decision makers to reject any legislation that undermines secure encryption or enables the routine scanning of private communications. Stand up for privacy, digital security, and the freedom to communicate without mass surveillance.
