Stop Chapman University From Silencing Its Students

Stop Chapman University From Silencing Its Students
The Issue
On March 17th, 2025, students and faculty participated in an on-campus protest. After the protest, some students were charged with violating the Facility Use Policy and Event Policy. However, these charges appear selective and biased, as other unapproved student events, individuals, and groups using “amplified sound” on campus have not been charged (as individual students) under this policy. Therefore, we call for the Chapman University Administration to revise the Facility Use Policy and Event Policy to allow students and faculty to express their free speech, and for faculty and students to be involved in rewriting this policy. Due to the biased enforcement of this policy, we also call for no action to be taken against any individuals who spoke on March 17th, 2025, due to “amplified sound”.
