Hey Changers, Hope you're enjoying the birdsong and blooms. Been struggling health-wise lately and deeply overdue for some much needed recuperation. Doing my best to make a staycation of this Summer. Wanted to update you all before I break! ...And invite you to a little challenge! Been reaching out to a number of healthwatch and cancer prevention orgs about our call for a Governmental Cancer Task Force. Still a few I've not connected with (like TTAC Publishing and Prevent Cancer Now) Those I've connected with have applauded our call for a Universal Cancer Strategy that focuses on Prevention. They've also cautioned that the scope of what we're proposing falls beyond the mandate of any Canadian initiative or governmental department they know. Some have suggested we take a piecemeal approach and start small, one issue at a time.. like labeling and revising informed consent.. What do you think? Do you think a grassroots call could create such a "game changing" shift? Have we bitten off "more than can be chewed?" Do you know of any existing initiatives with the wherewithal to take a such big-picture approach? 10 000 SIGNATURES. That's my challenge. Social media maven I am not. And I'm really struggling with the physical and financial fatigue of getting well. Desperately need this downtime. That being said, If we can get 10 000 signatures by this Fall I will do darnedest to get our call and stories to the press. Really believe in this call. And one thing I'm very good at is conveying a compelling message on record or video. Please spread the word!! I'll even offer a consolation drive: If we get 1000 SIGNATURES. I'll issue press releases on our call for truly informed consent and propose stories to every relevant Canadian media outlet I know. Discovered yet another friend who's life is touched by cancer today. Really want to see this "game changer" a go. We can't do it alone. Let's give our new government a strong mandate for change. Here's to our health, Niki
