Caldwell Ave is not safe

Yesterday I witnessed a young girl on a bike nearly get hit by a car. She waited at the pedestrian crosswalk at Caldwell and Leader for a break in the traffic - the motorists DO NOT stop for pedestrians at this cross walk. Just as she adjusted her feet on the pedals and started to ride across the street, a speeding car, that she probably thought would slow down, slammed on the breaks to avoid her. It was jarring to watch and I felt helpless. But we are not helpless. We can do something about this. Talk to your alderwoman Samantha Nugent. If she knew how rampant the traffic violations are between the light at Lenox Ave and the Caldwell ramp, surely she would do something…Right?
