A lot has happened since I last gave an update. I attended rallies, met NYPL administrators, and a City Council hearing concerning the budget cuts. Right now our public libraries are still facing the potential $36.2 million cut that will severely impact the libraries’ ability to deliver the free services, programs, and resources New Yorkers depend on. If enacted, the proposed cuts will end Sunday service city wide and eliminate universal six-day service, reduce the budget for books, and limit programming. I learned of the numerous programs that the Libraries provide including free technical support and digital literacy, English language classes, creative arts classes, college prep for youth and more. **The deadline for the cuts will be coming next week!**

Today, Thursday, June 15, join library supporters from across New York City as we send a clear, united message to City leaders: Reverse the $36.2 million cut! #NoCutsToLibraries!
How to participate:

Go to https://investinlibraries.org/ and quickly put your name to a pre-written letter that will be sent to your elected officials to show your support.
Use your social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) to post this:

“Libraries are just 0.4% of the city budget, but their benefits are enormous. We’re asking @NYCMayor & @NYCCouncil to not cut New Yorkers short. We need our libraries. #NoCutsToLibraries https://investinlibraries.org

More updates will be coming soon!
