Stop BRSK Telegraph Pole Installation, Preserve Neighbourhood Character & Property Values

The Issue

I am part of a close-knit community made up of long-standing residents and young families alike. BRSK, a telecommunications company, wants to erect telegraph poles along our road, a thoroughfare that has previously never had any. This installation threatens the indelible character of our neighbourhood, extending beyond mere aesthetics — it risks depreciating our property values and obstructing our cherished views of the Peak District which is one reason many of us purchased property on this estate.

More than just sentiment; research indicates that unspoiled views can increase property values by up to 15% (source: Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, 2020).

Furthermore, the proposed poles could impede access to some properties, setting precedents that question our rights to unrestricted entry to our homes. With alternative solutions available, the addition of more infrastructure seems unnecessary. BRSK could co-locate with existing infrastructure rather than intruding on our beloved vista and encroaching onto our properties.

Our appeal is simple, yet significant. We ask for a halt on BRSK's impending telegraph pole installations and encourage the company to co-locate. It is more than preserving views; it is about protecting our quality of life, the worth of our homes, and preserving the essence of our community for future generations. This is a firm promise: we will not support or engage in business with BRSK should they continue with their disruptive plans.

Join us in asking the support of Lisa Smart MP in halting the unnecessary alteration of our neighbourhood. Sign the petition. Help ensure our homes and community remain unspoiled.
