Dear Save Bondi Road Supporters,
Thank you very much for taking the time to sign the petition to Save Bondi Road. To date, we have received over 1,000 signatures.
This overwhelming response means that the Council has got the message loud and clear. The community has said that we do not want the Bondi Road re-zoning proposed in the draft Village Centres Strategy. It would mean over-development, loss of local shops, loss of heritage and increased traffic.
Recently some of us met with Jamie Parker, Planning & Heritage Portfolio spokesperson for NSW Greens. Jamie wrote to the Mayor of Waverley, Paula Masselos, and her response was quite positive. His letter is here.
The Mayor responded with: "Many thanks for your correspondence concerning our villages strategy. Council has received a large number of submissions in relation to this draft strategy and I am personally gratified to see such a large engagement by our community on this important strategy.
Our officers are taking all submissions and feedback into account as they prepare the final report."
To keep informed about future updates on the Bondi Road strategy sign our facebook page or send an email to savebondiroad@gmail.com and we will add you to our email address list.
As a community, we strongly support the renewal of the streetscape, beautification measures and traffic calming for Bondi Road. We'd really like to receive your suggestions on improvements and ideas.
Over the coming weeks, we will be posting some highlights of the heritage aspects of Bondi Road that are worth celebrating. As well as encouraging you to support the local businesses by shopping local, especially through these COVID times.
Again thank you for your kind support.
