Various boarding houses and communes are opened up by property owners in the Waterkloof Glen, Ext 2, allowing anyone to rent a room at a low cost. Our area is a family-friendly and safe neighborhood, but the introduction of boarding houses and communes threatens this tranquility. Having students and strangers occupying houses in Waterkloof Glen increases the risk of crime and infringes on our rights as property owners to have peace and quiet. The owners and occupants of these boarding houses and communes do not respect us as their neighbors nor abide by the rules set by the City. The planned buildings will also obscure our views, natural sunlight and infringe on our privacy as the occupants will be overlooking into our properties. We urge the City of Tshwane to prohibit boarding houses and communes in our residential area to preserve our community's safety and harmony.
