This is a Petition Against Bill C-2 (The Strong Borders Act)

After discovering that petitions on Change.org do not qualify in the House of Commons, we had to create a new petition on the government website for it to even be considered. It was quite the learning curve with much bureaucratic red tape to go through, but it's done! Please sign the new petition at THIS LINK. We are up to 1179 signatures as of July 16, 2025. To Prime Minister Mark Carney and the Government of Canada,

We, the undersigned, strongly oppose Bill C-2, also known as the Strong Borders Act. While national security is important, this bill adopts an extreme approach, mirroring policies used by the Trump administration - a path that Canada should reject, not follow.

Our concerns include:

• Increased surveillance and privacy violations, including Canada Post opening private letters without consent.
• Expanded search and police powers that lack proper oversight or accountability.
• Harsh restrictions on asylum seekers, leaving vulnerable individuals without protection.
• Government overreach, granting unchecked power to cancel immigration documents arbitrarily.

Canada has always stood for compassion, fairness, and human rights—not for policies that marginalize refugees, weaken privacy protections, and hand excessive power to authorities. Bill C-2 shifts Canada away from its core values, aligning too closely with aggressive U.S. tactics and policies.

We urge the Canadian government to withdraw Bill C-2 and, instead, craft immigration and security policies that reflect our nation's commitment to justice, privacy, and human dignity.

Prime Minister Carney, we are putting our faith in you and your government to make the right decision. If this bill goes through, it would be an infringement on our rights, our privacy, our freedoms, and an assault on the marginalized in our society. This is NOT what we voted for. Please keep Canada true to its values, and ensure policy decisions put people first.
