Today I contacted NDP MP Gordon Johns to let him know about this petition and I asked him if there is anything else I can do to help stop Bill C-2 from passing. As he is an 'Elbows Up' advocate like myself, passionate about keeping fascism out of Canada, and protecting our democracy, our privacy, and our civil rights, I feel optimistic that he will take this seriously. We need enough Liberal MP's to see this bill for what it is, and enough leaders from the opposition to vote against it.

In full disclosure, I am a left-leaning voter and rarely agree with Conservative party policies. But I have to say that in this case, I am in agreement with them that this bill is government overreach and infringes on our rights - Canadian citizens and immigrants alike. I feel this bill is simply an attempt to placate and bend to Trump. But it does not reflect who we are as Canadians. Nor does it honour and uphold the freedoms our veterans fought and died for. So regardless of our political leanings, I hope we can come together in solidarity as Canadians and stop this bill from being passed.
