Dear Supporters,
On Tuesday evening we witnessed an incredible display of community spirit as several hundred residents came together to stand for proper democratic process and consultation. The strong turnout demonstrated how our diverse, multicultural community can unite when our democratic rights are challenged.
We are most grateful to Brad Battin MP, Ann-Marie Hermans MP, Monique Davis, and Michael Ball for addressing our community. They clearly articulated how the Victorian State Government's actions have:
- Bypassed mandatory consultation processes;
- Were divisive and disrespectful to the community;
- Disregarded community rights;
- Generated unnecessary anxiety;
- Set a dangerous precedent for 6,000+ places across Victoria.
IMPORTANT: COMMUNITY CONSULTATION LAUNCHED
Brad Battin MP has now initiated a formal consultation process with the local community, something that the Victorian State Government failed as it was their obligation. From this consultation, a report will be presented in the new year in State Parliament. This is your opportunity to have your voice heard about the Berwick Springs Lake renaming. Submit your views here: https://www.bradbattin.com.au/survey/consultation-paper-berwick-springs-rename
Every submission matters, whether brief or detailed.
We are working on other avenues in defense of Berwick Springs and democracy and will keep you updated.
Thank you for your continued support as we work to protect not just Berwick Springs, but also democratic principles across Victoria.
Yours sincerely,
The Berwick Springs Lake Petition Team
