Stop Anti-LGBTQ+ House Bills No. 4546, 4510, and 4195 From Being Passed in MI

Stop Anti-LGBTQ+ House Bills No. 4546, 4510, and 4195 From Being Passed in MI
The Issue
Anti-LGBTQ+ bills affecting educational and recreational settings have been introduced to the Michigan Legislature.
House bills No. 4546, 4510, and 4195 have been introduced, but not yet passed. These bills have been written with educational and recreational settings in mind, such as school and sports.
So, who would be impacted by these bills?
If these bills are passed, queer and transgender individuals would be affected, and because these bills would have impact on settings such as school and sports, LGBTQ+ youth is more likely to be affected.
What would these bills do?
As said before, these bills would change how schools and sports treat transgender and queer individuals.
House Bill No. 4546 would directly impact athletic transgender individuals. This bill would not respect the individual’s present identity in official awarding, ranking, and outcome recordings, but only refer to them as their biological sex.
House Bills No. 4195 and 4510 directly change how multiple occupancy restrooms, changing areas, locker rooms, and familiar facilities are used by transgender individuals. In this matter, such individuals would not be allowed to enter the listed facilities based on their present identities, but based on their biological sex.
Why act now? Why sign?
If we act now, we have a higher success possibility of stopping these bills from passing, or even gaining favor. Additionally, 41% of LGBTQ+, especially transgender and non-binary youth, seriously thought about attempting suicide because of the alienating factors they face day to day. If we can show that we don’t stand for these discriminatory bills, it will save lives. SIGN NOW!
