Our animals need legislative protection! The World Animal Protection Index is an organisation that assesses the welfare and treatment of animals worldwide on a scale of A to G. New Zealand scored an average of a C, with our two lowest scores being "Protection for animals used in draught and recreation", achieving an E, and  "Protecting companion animals", achieving a D. New Zealand is one of 7 countries in the world that still legalises dog racing, with 30 greyhounds dying because of this sport since 2021. We are an animal loving nation with over 4 million pets and 35 million livestock animals, sign this petition and urge the government to take action. We need legislative protection for our beloved animals!
