Stop an Intensive Cattle Feedlot Proposal - Mangrove Mountain, NSW

The issue

Central Coast Council recently received a proposal for an intensive cattle feedlot and associated works (DA/4247/2022) at 2 Hershon Road (Ironbark Road), Mangrove Mountain. The development proposes to house up to 400 cattle in two sheds measuring approximately 84 metres by 24 metres (with the possibility of housing 999 cattle). The development is objected to for environmental, ethical, social and economic reasons.

Key concerns include the close proximity of the proposal to current houses and approved building blocks as well as sensitive conservation and Aboriginal cultural heritage receptors, animal welfare and wellbeing, significant noise from cattle and operations, odour, air emissions contributing to climate change and pollution, increased truck movements on unsuitable roads, pollution of surface and groundwater, reduced visual amenity, water requirements, impact on existing sustainable farming practices including increased risk of disease, waste and effluent management, negative impact on neighbouring property values, reduced visitor numbers to the nearby Council reserves and Popran National Park with flow on impacts for local businesses, lack of community benefit, and impact on human health.

We need your support to prevent this feedlot going ahead. Please sign and consider putting in your own individual submission at: https://eservices.centralcoast.nsw.gov.au/ePathway/Production/Web/GeneralEnquiry/EnquiryLists.aspx?ModuleCode=LAP

We need 15 or more individual submissions and/or 50+ signatures.
