We welcome her call at the meeting for the following; • End the negative narrative on immigration. • An immigration system that centres on the rights of women victims of domestic violence and abuse so they are not vulnerable to threats from perpetrators • Allowing spouses to come to the UK without minimum income requirement • Allowing children to come to the UK to join families • Not deporting children • Ending 'deport first appeal later' practice • Closing down Yarlswood and Brook House detention centres • Using the money saved to fund services for victims of modern slavery, abuse and torture • Ending indefinite detention • Shifting the burden of proof from the applicant to the Home Office and shifting practice to balance of probability. •Legal Aid to cover this area • Ending the immigration bail for asylum seekers • Removing the Net Migration Target and instead having fair rules and reasonable management of immigration • Ending the Tier 2 visa cap •Tier 4 students encouraged to come to the UK and not included in net migration figures • Opposing ID cards • Ending the use of private involvement in the immigration system with an end to G4S and SERCO involment and instead responsibility moved to Local Authorities.
