I filmed my reaction upset because what I saw was not politics to me. It was vile, disgusting, repulsive, and horrific. As a mother, watching a mother be used in an ad to turn on her own child in order to help an opponent made me sick. That is not leadership, and it should never be treated like normal campaigning.

This kind of ad does damage far beyond one race or one candidate. It tells families across Ohio that humiliation and personal cruelty are acceptable tools for gaining power. It teaches our kids that public life is about tearing people down in the most intimate, painful ways possible. And if this is the level they are willing to sink to just to win, then we all need to be asking what that means for how they would treat the people of this state.

That is why I am calling on Ohio television stations, radio stations, and digital platforms that carry political advertising to stop accepting and airing degrading personal attack ads built around family betrayal and humiliation. Broadcasters and platforms do not have to normalize content that is morally bankrupt just because it is political. They can choose basic standards of decency and refuse to profit from ads whose whole purpose is to disgust, shame, and dehumanize.

If you believe Ohio deserves better than this, please sign. If you are tired of seeing campaigns try to win by being cruel instead of honest, add your name. We should not reward tactics that make people sick to watch. We should demand a political culture that our children do not have to be ashamed of.
