Hi all,
1.   The next Stop the Chop Roadshow will be in Glenelg this coming Saturday!
They have been very successful and entertaining, and we encourage you to book on this Humanitix link, where there is more detail on speakers and music
GLENELG ROADSHOW
1-2pm Saturday next, 31st October
Wigley Reserve
621 Anzac Highway
(right at the end of the highway)

2. Legal challenge
Excellent news! SECRA's legal challenge to the Adelaide Circuit Redevelopment Project (MotoGP project) is going ahead.
They invite us to contribute to their legal fighting fund. Donations will remain strictly confidential. We strongly encourage you to do so, full details are here.
[Note: If you donate in the range $250 to $1000 before Friday Oct 30, an anonymous member of the Adelaide Park Lands Association will match your contribution one-for-one, up to a total of $10,000!].

3. Peaceful Mass Protest - Save The Date- Tuesday Dec 1- IMPORTANT
From Tuesday 1st December a range of community groups will assemble to stage a peaceful mass protest in the Eastern Park Lands. Details to come soon.

4. EPBC submissions
In a result that is astounding, but not surprising, the Federal Department for Heritage and the Environment (DCCEEW) has decided that there is nothing to see with the proposed conversion of the Eastern Park lands from a National Heritage 'protected' community park into a motor racing circuit, with the felling of nearly 400 trees! This is despite the fact that there is a new Environment Act (EPBC), we had numerous submissions, and that they included quite a number that demonstrated extraordinarily levels of technical and professional expertise.
See Barbara Pocock's skewering of the minister for the Environment in yesterday's Senate estimates in Federal Parliament, here in a clip on Instagram. We'll release more footage when we get it. You can watch out for it here on the web on the parliamentary portal, under Environment and Tuesday 27th, as I write this it is still not posted!

5.  Festival Plaza:
We continue to monitor for a decision from the Commonwealth Parliamentary Public Works Committee on the ATO's $73.4m fit out for Festival Plaza Tower 2, and are still communicating with the Teals and cross bench to get their support for any parliamentary vote. We are also waiting on answers to Rebekha Sharkie's questions on notice to the Treasurer on the ATO move.
Also you will have noticed that Barbara in Estimates deals with the notion of cumulative impacts, especially proscribed under the new EPBC Act, on the Park Lands: the aggregate effect of Tower 2, John E Brown Park's trees, driving range, building and car park, Possum Park's trees and conversion to Fee Simple, and the MotoGP abomination.

6.  Stop the Chop petition
We are attempting to get the Stop the Chop petition addressed in State Parliament where it has been stalled by the government. Again, no surprises there, it represents the abysmal level of governance that we are fighting with, it's simple cowboyism, in the end analysis.

7.  Ed and Janette Go-Fund-Me reopens
You have probably heard that Ed and Janette are again in need of our support. They are our heroes and deserve our continued support.

More Stop the Chop:
You can write to your local MP.  APLA's form letter.
Register here for SNAP RALLIES AND SHORT NOTICE ACTION so you can be informed of opportunities to protect the Park Lands.
If you have a small group of friends who would like to be involved, we are starting to form letter writing groups to make it easier for people to write to MPs.
We would give you three or four ideas each fortnight to choose from so that they/you are encouraged to write again and again, in your own words
they could be very simple one sentence emails
we would give you a template
please contact me if your are interested, it would be a very easy activity that would continue pressure on individual MPs.

We hope we see you on Saturday, thank you for your support!

Rob,
