Stop 5-Storey Building Construction in Richmond Neighborhood. 9000 No.3 road Richmond BC
The Issue
Having lived in this neighborhood for 17 years, I've cherished the quiet and simplicity it offered – a perfect environment to start a family. Recently, I began a new chapter here with my young children, alongside countless other families and seniors who call this serene Richmond, BC community their home. Unfortunately, the proposed construction of a five-storey rental building threatens to disrupt this tranquility in numerous ways.
The introduction of such a large structure in our area, where no other building rivals its height, raises significant concerns. This new development will overshadow our children's common play areas, depriving them of precious sunlight. Besides casting a literal shadow, there are broader implications: increased traffic can pose safety risks, while crime rates and noise could escalate, challenging our community’s peaceful life. Moreover, the incessant operation of construction machinery and vehicles risks intensifying air pollution, affecting the health and well-being of families and seniors alike.
Our community values privacy and safety, both of which are jeopardized by the developer's plan to cut down surrounding trees. These are not just trees; they are a natural barrier providing privacy and contributing to our neighborhood's charm.
While the city seems to prioritize higher tax revenues associated with increased population density, for us, the residents, it’s about preserving our quality of life. We desire a quiet, simple lifestyle where our children can play safely, and our seniors can enjoy peace.
By signing this petition, you support our demand to halt the construction of this five-storey building and to urge city planners to consider our neighborhood’s wellbeing. Stand with us to protect the essence of our community and ensure a harmonious living environment for all residents. Sign the petition and let your voice be heard.
