Our Earth is Losing an area of a Football Field, of Trees, Every 2 Seconds

York has Lost Its Iconic Cathedral Salmon Gum Drive Through Entry Gate, 5 km East of town.
A unique and beautiful tourist magnet now destroyed.
"Main Roads" told us verbally & in writing, that they would keep these majestic trees, protect them with a 300 metre crash barrier, if necessary,
then promptly sent in, their "Pink Ribbon Bulldozer Crew.
The Liberal candidate Bill Crabtree appeared on video-demanding the trees come down, while the local Nation M.P. Mia Davies talks around the issue. She tells us the Minister for Environment is the sign off person and would not return my phone call.
So after contacting the Environment M.P., Albert Jacob, sent me an email, saying he was unable to meet, yet he approved the clearing and essentially with offsets considered, economic and social developments may occur, with long term environmental and conservation values. What purchase of equivalent vegetation does Mr Jacob proclaim, or believe will replace and enhance rare 200-400 hundred year old irreplaceable Cathedral Salmon Gum Trees?
Do we trust our elected leaders with our vanishing remnant bush?
I say it is time to stand up for our trees with an independent overseer,
outside of 'Main Roads' and Government.
