Hertfordshire County Council are planning to cut funding to Adult Day Centre Services for the disabled and adults with learning disabilities. This will result in the closure or reduction of daycare services for the most vulnerable in our society. These day care services currently provide valuable respite time for parents/ carers and also provide a safe and stimulating, social environment for the less able. Without these facilities there would be little or no social interaction for some and would place a great strain on carers who are already under considerable pressure,with little or no other support. We need to force the local authority to realise the disasterous effect that their proposals will have on the most vulnerable people in our society and to refrain from going ahead with any such reductions in services.
