BLACK LIVES MATTER MURAL IN JERSEY CITY NJ

The Issue

The Black Lives Matter murals is a form of art to peacefully express the outrage against racial and systemic injustice. Across America Black Lives Matter murals have been painted in the streets to show support of the Black Lives Matter movement and to honor the legacy of the countless black men women and children in the United states who have become the victims of police brutality.

Jersey City, NJ is the largest City within Hudson County and also called home to a thriving black community in the Greenville section of the city (The Hill). This petition is requesting for Mayor Steven Fulop and the City Council Members to allow for a BLACK LIVES MATTER mural to be painted on Martin Lurther King Jr Blvd (formerly known as Jackson ave)

The Black Lives Matter murals is a reminder to law enforcement officials and individuals around the world that while All Lives Do Matter, Black Lives are the ones that have been disproportionately affected by police brutality and is critically endangered due to multiple racial issues affecting the black community.

Furthermore, I believe the BLACK LIVES MATTER mural can also be a reminder to individuals of the black/African American community of Jersey City to STOP Gun violence, Gang violence and to support, and love one another during this critical time as we fight against racial and systemic injustice across the nation. #BLACKLIVESMATTER #BLMT
