Keep Speech and Language Therapy in your child's school building

The Issue

The Kenmore-Tonawanda UFSD has determined that Speech and Language services for the 2018-2019 school year will no longer take place in a student's current non-public school. Kenmore-Tonawanda UFSD will now provide transportation for all students in non-public schools to a public school building to receive Speech and Language services. This change in location is unacceptable.  It undeniably results in the loss of instructional time to and from another location along with safety concerns. The best interest of students is not in mind when the plan is to transport them to and from another building multiple times each week. This results in additional time out of the classroom on top of instructional time that is already lost due to the necessary Speech and Language therapy itself. I feel very strongly that this change needs to be reevaluated for the best interest of all students, not just those currently enrolled in public education.
