Cal VCB continues to re-victimize. Specifically, my new friend Kit. Kit applied to the program all the way back in 2023 and still hasn't been paid out. She sent Cal VCB her denied SSA application over a years ago and appealed back around February 2024. By state statute (written law), Cal VCB cannot delay appeals more than 6 months. But the only way to stop them is to hire a lawyer and get what's called a "writ of demand", meaning compel the agency to pay the benefits.

The California Victims does this as a strategy. To weigh victims down, because they know we can't fight back, otherwise we wouldn't rely on them. Cal VCB uses violence, just like our aggressor, but this time, through illegal delays of benefits and claiming they didn't get the paperwork. To use my example, my own attorney at the time resubmitted his proof that he represented me four times -- blatant retaliation for demanding I be paid what is legally mine. 

How can you help? Keep sharing this petition with everyone you know. Keep calling, emailing, and tagging your state & federal representatives on social media. And if you know any lawyers, please let me know and I'll forward you Kit. Given how egregious this is, not only would Kit win all of her benefits, the court would almost certainly award interest and attorney's fees (meaning Cal VCB would be forced to pay the attorney).
