Last week President Ernest Bai Koroma and his APC government in Sierra Leone presented the most egregious violation of the human rights of Dr. Kabba when they sent Dr. Kabba to the country's High Court under the most draconian bail conditions ever in the history of Sierra Leone. Five people were required to present 100 million Leones (about $20,000) and their properties to bail Dr. Kabba from the notoriously inhumane Pademba Road Prison in Freetown. Those five people were also required to surrender their passports and refrain from leaving the country. Dr. Kabba himself has surrendered his passport and is being prevented from leaving Freetown. His phone calls and text messages are monitored around the clock, and his associates, including this petitioner, have been identified and targeted. This is the conduct of a President who has benefited from a democratic process that was financed by the international community, especially U.S. Taxpayers. Dr. Kabba is a United States citizen who deserves the protection of the U.S. Government. Please sign this petition and contact your Congressmen,Congresswomen, Secretary John Kerry and President Barack Obama to demand President Koroma to adhere to international conventions to ensure that Dr. Kabba is treated fairly under the law. All civilized people should reject this flagrant political persecution and send a clear message to President Koroma that Sierra Leoneans are tired with war.
