Friends, Dr. Alie Kabba is out on bail again as he was last week. I expect that he will be arrested again and we will be back exactly where we are now. Meanwhile, lawyer Alieu Iscandari, himself a staunch supporter of APC President Ernest Bai Koroma, who was arrested this morning for criticizing the conduct of the government, has now been released after being forced to apologize. Though a senior member of the ruling APC and a staunch supporter of President Koroma, Mr. Iscandari's arrest and his scathing critique of his the government underscores the magnitude of the abuse of power and the erosion of democratic gains in Sierra Leone. We must therefore not relent in calling on the international community to pay attention to Sierra Leone and ask President Koroma and his APC government to abide by the Sierra Leone Constitution and their international obligations to uphold the rule of law and protect the rights of all Sierra Leoneans, including Dr. Alie Kabba.
