Torres Walks With Probation After Brutally Crushing A Pet Rabbit

No consequences for the brutal killing or suffering of the rabbit over a cell phone! Shockingly, the news article "now mentions" that Officers found another dead pet rabbit and dead pet cat in the trash on the back porch that were "well preserved" from the winter weather. Was this not concerning to Mr. Stilson or Judge Matasavage? The outcome of this court case is a heartbreaking dishonorable action while the CT court system appears to take this case without seriousness and the abuser/killer of a pet rabbit walks while 2 more pets ( rabbit and cat) were also found dead on the property in the trash. There were 3 counts of Felony animal cruelty charges on the CT Judicial Website prior the records being sealed. While we respect the State Attorney for his efforts; it is not understandable that the State Attorney did not oppose granting this outcome and believes this program was the most appropriate outcome and that the interests of justice were fully served. Sadly, there has been no justice served for rabbit Peter Griffith or the other 2 dead pet animals. It is not understandable how Judge Matasavage finds an adult charged with maliciously wounding or killing an animal, 3 class D felony charges, another dead rabbit and cat found in the garbage along with a diagnosis of mental health issues able to rehabilitate from Feb 2017 to now and considered not likely to offend again. Acts of cruelty against animals are now counted alongside felony crimes like arson, burglary, assault, and homicide in the FBI’s expansive criminal database while the organization points out the overlap animal abuse has with domestic violence and child abuse. The National Sheriffs’ Association’s John Thompson urges people to shed the mindset that animal cruelty is a crime only against animals. “It’s a crime against society,” urging all law enforcement agencies to participate in NIBRS. “By paying attention to these crimes, we are benefiting all of society.” RIP Peter Griffin, we the petitioners mourn for you and your unspeakable suffering and loss, as well as the other pet animals found dead at this home.
