One of the most difficult yet important part of my work and ministry is HEARING the soul cries of mothers of incarcerated children. Overall, we feel unheard, unseen and neglected by our families; friends; politicians and even our spiritual leaders. NO, we can't just get over it. NO, we won't write off and abandon our children. You may see a criminal, but a mother sees a piece of her heart. A piece that she no longer has control over communicating with, seeing nor hugging.

When her child (minor or adult) is treated as a commodity or property by a system that does not care about them as an individual, the mother spends minutes, hours, days, months and years feeling inadequate, shamed and often embarrassed. Ignoring her pleas for help by those in power positions, only serves to heighten these feelings which too often lead to mental and health care issues.

Mothers MUST be heard.

A "Family Liaison" would greatly help with this.
