Deep sigh. Within the past 48 hours, I have been contacted by families and friends of incarcerated individuals regarding suicide attempts; subpar to non-existent medical care and physical abuse and neglect. It breaks my "mother's heart" and my heart as a human being when I'm told that someone is extremely ill and the prison is ignoring them. Per usual, the institutions and administration are not responding to the cries and despair as they should. Haven't you had enough of hearing about people dying in prison due to negligence?
I promise you that I personally will not be silent about these atrocities. I will do all that I can to advocate for and be a voice for these individuals, but I MUST have help. These prisons NEED a "Family Liaison" that will see, heard and SPEAK for those behind bars and their families.
I need YOUR help to sign, comment and share this petition. In addition, email: Carolyn J. Scruggs at: dpscs.secretary.scruggs@maryland.gov with your thoughts and feelings regarding the conditions of these state prisons.
